Oh, the changes!

It’s hard to believe the changes that have happened in the past two decades.  Bob & I got married nearly 20 years ago, and when I think about the difference in the world of communications since then, it is staggering!

When Bob & I were first married, I lived in General Santos City, Bob lived in the USA.  It was difficult for us to even make a phone call to one another!  If we missed talking on the phone at the time when it could happen (only once per week),we could not communicate until the next week.

Read all about my memories and what I think about today’s communications, by reading my recent article over on the Live in the Philippines Web Magazine.

Glad to see you bringing this site back to life, Feyma. Only the front-runners on line get to have apersonalized URL, after all … no luck for “Johhny come latelies” like Bob and I l-)

Many people thinking about living in the Philippines have no idea just how much communications have improved. It wasn’t many years ago that people in little towns and remote barangies made a little extra income out of placing their only phone (with a long cord) out the front indow on a rable and charging a few pesos per call to thos who would likely never have a phone in their life. Now, I can sit in my air conditioned ‘blog central” and talk to folks all around the world for free, or text instructions to my hired farmer while he’s 150 km’s away, out in the fields checking the irrigation … he has worked that farm for the family for about 20 years now, I wonder if he ever imagined the day that the owner would be pestering him via text while he worked? LoL

Hi Dave – Thank you so much. Ha ha ha my URL kind of long though. But its okay. ;-)

Yeah, a lot of people that went abroad until early 90′s doesn’t really know that the Philippines has good and better communication in phones or internet. Everybody still thinks that we are still in the old days when it comes to communications. We are lucky now that we have a lot of choices on our internet.

Hey your tenants might turn off his cell phone if your bothering him all the time. ;-) Ha ha ha. He might think he can’t finish anything if you keep texting him. ;-) But in reality really cell phone is a big help. When your tenant wants something he can just text you instantly.

Anyway, thank you for stopping by. Good to see you here.
