Meringue everyone!

Egg whites in the mixer

For the past month I have been making meringue here in my house. Bob saw the recipe on TV and he let me see it when they showed the segment again. I just memorized what the chef said and made a few changes. It's really an easy recipe to make. I am lucky because I had my nieces and my kids who are into cooking also. So now, I will just tell them to make it, and in less than 20 minutes of preparation then its in the oven for about 25-30 minutes, really until the top of the meringue turned color brown. Bob likes meringue a lot and so does our youngest son Jared. I made this meringue like a pie. Unlike the other meringue that we've made before … [Read more...]

A good chat with a friend

The-innocence-of-Filipino-Kids-150x150

A few days ago Bob, myself and a friend were sitting on our porch watching the kids play basketball. We were talking about the party that we just attended a few days back. With that chat we touched on a topic about our kids behavior now compared to when we were kids. Like we always said our kids growing up now have an easier life compared to the life we had back then. Our conversation then went on to the girls before and now. I’m meaning to say about the girls that was brought up way before the internet came. We both made ourselves and our families as a sample. Like me and that friend were both brought up in the farm. We are happy and … [Read more...]

Expenses here really varies from place to place. I answered the question not on how he should spend the money, but what can he spend on the basic needs here in the Philippines particularly here in Davao City. I was thinking of death lately because a few close  family of mine died in April and one in July. Some were my cousins that I just met a few times in my life. But 2 that were close to my family were my cousins who died last April and a dear person to me died last week of July. He was my brother-in-law. He was the husband of my oldest sister. He is a brother-in-law to me for over 35 years. We had our ups and down as a family. But over all we love each other no matter what. He died of a heat stroke. It really shocked the rest of the family. But we are happy that he did not suffer much. Why was I talking about death anniversary since my … [Read more...]

Smoking-150x150

I was watching TV and they showed this 2 year old kid from Indonesia who’s smoking 4o cigarettes a day. I just could not believe it. But when I searched on YouTube it’s there. It really struck me that it’s been going on here in the Philippines too. Only thing I never saw as young as 2 years old smoked cigarettes here. But I’ve seen as young as 8 years old smoking here. How could a kid starts smoking at that age? Imagined that kid from Indonesia really started smoking when he was 18 months old, it shows on some of the videos on Youtube. Pinay-Chat-Mate-287x120

I’ve been hearing through some friends about the racket now of the ladies here in the Philippines, to get money from the foreigners. They will just tell some outrageous stories to the guy, and the guy fell into the hook of the ladies. They will send money that they will end up working so many odd jobs just to send the money to the lady love in the Philippines. I’ve been writing similar stories regarding guys that were scammed here. I’m not going to stop writing until I know that the guys will open their eyes not their wallets. Been hearing again of guys being scammed for big money by the ladies here. The lady will tell the … [Read more...]
