I even wrote an article over on the Live in the Philippines Web Magazine, including the whole recipe of how to make it!

So, if you are missing binignit or ginataan, head over to LiP and get the recipe, I am sure you will enjoy yourself, both making it and also eating it!

A few nights ago the Bisaya teacher of Bob Bebe invited us to go and hear the music of one of her student. His going to perform live at Kangaroo Coffee shop. The show will start at 8pm. After Bebe was teaching Bob, the sessions ends like 6pm Bebe told us that she had to go home and feed her kids and she will come right back at our house before 8 o’clock for the show. So in between that time me and my nieces prepared our dinner too so that when we go to the coffee shop we will have our dessert there. Bebe was true to her word she came back at our house before 8. She waited a few minutes at our house because me and my nieces are not yet ready. While waiting her and Bob and the kids are happily chatting in Bisaya for Bob’s practice communicating too. By 8:10 off we went to the coffee shop.

When we got there, theirs already a lot of people there. The singer was already started performing. Bob told me that I will just order for everyone since its jammed pack inside. I did order and I asked the cashier to please bring our order outside since it is hard for us to sneak back inside to get what we order with so many people standing. He said “no problem ma’am”. So I went outside and joined Bob, Bebe and our 2 nieces Glenda and Dedeng. While waiting for our order we were listening to the performer. He was actually pretty good. Then in just few minutes the sound system went dead. We can’t hear anything from the singer. It’s okay because its nice to just talked with Bebe and my nieces too. Then all of a sudden the waiter came near our table and called my name and told us to get our order. Really he could have just brought our order when he came and told us. I was not happy going inside to get our order passing through a lot of people. It’s pretty tight inside. That’s one thing I tried and don’t want to go to Kangaroo coffee shop because all of the other coffee shop here in Davao will deliver your order in your table. The thing is I saw some of their waitresses and waiters just standing behind the counters chatting a bit. For me I went there to relax and unwind. It just shocking to me that their waitresses and waiters can’t even just bring your food to your table.

Oh well, lots of coffee place here in Davao that we like to hang out too. Just go there and have fun and relax… I like Bose coffee club at F. Torres and SM, Bastis at Victoria mall, Fagioli along Bajada, Coffee Dream at SM, At Jack Ridge too, Kopi Roti I think in Jacinto. I like their bread there, Yummy…

Cheers!

Yesterday night I had a pleasure to have a friend that cooked for us. He was from the UK. His name is Steve. We knew Steve through John. They both live here in Davao. They were kind enough to come to our house and prepared dinner for us. I was kind of assisting and trying to learn from Steve on his good recipe. My mouth still drooling from it. Honestly all of us pig out that night. Can’t help it though.

Steve prepared a typical Sunday roast, with roasted potato, mushroom stir-fry, steam carrots and broccoli. Of course the yorkshire pudding(not a dessert). It was delicious. I am so proud to say that we made it from scratch. That was the first time that Steve made it himself. Usually in England he will just buy the dough from the store. Since we can’t find it here in the Philippines, I immediately look up the recipe on the internet. Amazingly I found it. I’m going to cook that stuff soon so that I won’t forget to make them. The roast it was so good. Steve rub lots of herb on the roast and put it in the oven for over 3 hours. It took that long because we have a big roast. After I make this stuff I will share some of the recipe here in my blog.

Soon I will be posting what I will cook for Thanksgiving and I will share some recipes too. Anyone that wants to share their recipe feel free to do so.

Have fun cooking!

Few days ago Bob, myself, John, Steve and their friend Harold meet up to have dinner. We decided to eat dinner at the Mediterranean Cafe at Chimes Mall in Governor Sales Street. It is really a good restaurant. We ordered some gyro llamb sandwich in peta bread. It was delicious. When we ordered we told the waiter that the gyro we want it to be our appetizer so we wanted him to bring that first. It didn’t happen he brought our main course first instead. I even told him in bisaya. I told him too that we want our drinks right away and he answered me back okay, but still it didn’t happened. All of us just sit there and stir at each other and smile about it. We didn’t complain or anything we just tried to figure it out why he didn’t listened what we say to him. We all ageed that maybe he just so nervous having few foreigner he has to served in our table. I even talked to him in bisaya so that he would be more comfortable. I felt sorry for the guy he just panicked. Some of the waiter are doing just fine. Maybe our waiter was just new.

That place really had good foods. They had lots of customer there. I want to go back there soon and try some of the other foods. I would really recommend to everyone to go and try that place. You would not be sorry you went there. Have agood eat there guys.

I went grocery shopping today at our local mall here. I was shocked to see how much imported stuff they have now. I like it because I got so many choices now. They must have like three ailes now just for the imported stuff. I bought like half imported items on our groceries. It’s kind of spendy though. I bought like a bag of chex mix it cost over 200 pesos, Macaroni and cheese 89pesos, ravioli 99pesos. I was also shocked to see that the prices are still too high yet the value of the dollar is getting lower. Even the prices of the local foods here were mark too high. Sometimes I would wonder how can a low income family afford to buy groceries. I know some of my siblings are struggling to buy stuff for their kids. I felt sorry for them. I told them they might have to work three times as much now for them to afford the needs of the family.

It’s just so nice to shop now with lots of variety of foods to choose from. For those people who likes to drink wine they also had a lot to choose from. I am really impress of our store now here. It’s not like in the States or Europe standards but at least we have some stuff here to choose from. I’m happy of what we have now. We can live with it.

Have fun shopping!

Last night Bob and I decided to eat out for dinner. We went and tried to eat at the new restaurant called TONG YANG which is located at the Chimes mall in Gov. Sales St. I didn’t know at first what they have. When we went inside the waiter told us what we have to do. When we first set down we notice that there was a burner built into the table, the waiter turn it on. Then he gave us the menu, in the menu their must be like 80 items or so in it to chose from. All the food in that menu that we will choose it’s all raw, After we choose what we like to have the waiter then brought the raw food in our table and he showed us what to do, then Bob did the honor to starts the cooking. I was so amazed how good the food was. I like it. We got some spare ribs, pork neck, clams, shrimp, corn and others. It was really fun to cook while eating.

While eating I was shocked to see in the window our friends Maej and Mandy. It was their first time to eat there too. We end up eating together in the same table and takes turn to cook while others are eating. Maej and Mandy likes fish ball andd oyster too. They also have 4 burners to make soup like sinigang. They also have lots of different kind of sauces to choose from. We like teriyaki, so that’s what we put on our spare ribs. I would highly recomend to all of you out there who like to eat out and likes to try new stuff. It’s really good food there and cheap. All you can eat for just P399.00, not bad. I know that we will go back there to eat again.
