Time to rest!

Filed under: Family, General — feyma @ 8:07 pm

Well my mom Zosima Rodriguez Bayoy, born on December 26, 1928 in San Fernando Cebu. Passed away last October 05, 2008 at 12:30pm. In Patag, Sarangani Province.  At her bedside was her 6 children and grandkids and son-in-laws. One of her son(youngest son) was in Manila, just arrived from Singapore to visit her. He was just starts working to this new company. Luckily they allowed him one week off to visit mama.

It was really hard watching Mama suffer. I think at the end it was really a relief for us seeing her rested already. She’s already been suffering from the stroke a few years now. I think just 2-3 years after I get back from the States to lived here for good we did enjoyed having here. Not long after that she had stroke and her health went downhill then after that. I was just happy that my kids and Mama did spent some time together here at our house. She usually visit us here before and likes to work at our yard. Lots of time we will take her to Bukidnon to buy some flowers for her to plant at our yard. She really had a green thumb. Anything she planted it will grow. I wished I had some of her ability on the plants.

Mama, we really love you a lot. We are just happy that you’re now resting with Papa in Heaven. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for raising us kids. You and Papa did good, because we are all turn out good and simple people. I really appreciate you guys hardship and sacrifices just for us to go to school. I know that sometimes we your kids had some trouble with each of other, but we did try our very best to be united in honor of you. And I am proud to say that we did it. Even when you are starting to get sick we are already united for you. Not as strong as now though. I hope that you know that all of us really love you with all our heart. It’s just hard to believed that you are gone already.

To all the people that attended the service and also in the wake of Mama. From the Bayoy clan “THANK YOU” so much for coming. You guys prayer really help us a lot. To all of you that attended the funeral we thank you guys so much too.

To Mama so long and God will always be with you and Papa. We love you both!

To My Beloved Mom!

Filed under: Family, General — feyma @ 2:22 pm

MamaMy mom is turning 80 years old this coming December. Right now she’s really sick. Honestly she could go anytime now. Just 3 years after coming back here to lived for good my mom had stroke. She did recover after that, but she didn’t really take care of herself that much that she got ill again. She didn’t get better after another stroke. She didn’t really listen to the advice of the doctor. Bob and I even hire a physical therapist to come to our house everyday to work on her. My goodness just after a month she fired the therapist. I was wondering why the therapist didn’t come that day for her session, so I called her up and told her why she’s not at my house for Mama’s therapy. She didn’t told me that Mama told her to not come back because Mama’s going to the farm in GenSan. I was shocked. I told the therapist that its not true, that my mom still at the house. I just didn’t force my mom to had the therapy.

Anyway, now she’s not looking good. She’s not eating too. My sister told me that she’s really in a lot of pain now. She can’t even sit down now on her wheel chair by herself. She can’t swallow her food now too. My sis just try to make everything into soup but still she had a hard time swallowing. I think its almost time for her to rest it really showed in her face. Really I pray that she will be happy seeing my dad soon.

To Mama: We really love you a lot. I know that Papa is happily waiting for you. All of your grand kids and great grand kids and your sons and daughters-in-law loves you very much too. Thank you so much for loving us and taking care of us. I was really happy that we came back here and my kids know you better. Bob’s mom also loves you very much even though you guys can’t communicate. Through you guys actions the love was really there. Bob really loves you a lot too. He always told me that your the only family I had that he felt that really loves him.

Mama I really love you. While typing this I was crying. Sometimes I felt that I wished I should have been the older kid of yours so that I have a longer time to spent with you and Papa. But being the youngest was special too. I was really loved by you both. From the bottom of my heart I always love you. You are the reason why me and my siblings are still together.

I LOVE YOU MAMA!

Our Sarangani Farm!

Filed under: Family, General, Travel — feyma @ 1:09 am

During summer breaks of my kids this year, we went to my parents farm in Patag, Malapatan, Sarangani Province. Just less than 30 minutes drive from General Santos City. Its a place where I was born. Patag is a small barrio. I don’t even know the population there. This is the first time that my 3 kids went there. They really had fun going swimming with their cousins(Leo, Glenrose, Cyril, Emmanuel, Joshua, David, Nichole, and Sahara. They probably would have stayed on that river for a long time if not that its getting dark. They really like to jump from that coconut tree thats just floating in the middle of the river. As you can see on the picture the water is not that deep. Its really good for the kids to take a dip. My youngest son likes to dig under water and get some sand and rocks. He likes to collect different shape of small rocks. As a matter of fact my niece and sister had to come back to the river because Jared my youngest forgot to bring with him when he went home to my sister’s house his rock collection. He left it at the side of the river. He was really glad that my sister and niece found it. I wonder what would be his reaction if he felt the small crabs under the rocks? I think he might be freak out a little bit. He doesn’t really like to touch those.

One of the highlights of our trip was the Kariton(cart pulled by the carabao) ride. The kids like it. That was the first time they experience riding it. They were really amazed. The kariton it should be used to get coconut or any stuff from the farm. Sometimes they want to just keep on riding it, but we have to let them stop so that the Carabao can rest for awhile. The kariton is really a big hit for the kids. Even now at our house they even talk about it and sometimes asked me when are we going back to visit the farm again. Honestly we were thinking of going back there a few weeks ago, but canceled it due to some fighting in the Sarangani area. We just felt that its not the right time to go anywhere at the moment. Just to be safe though. One of our friend almost hit by the bombing in Digos. If he would have arrived like 5 minutes early, his bus that he was riding would have been hit too. So it just scared me a little bit. Hopefully it will be fine soon. We will visit there again soon. I want to visit my ailing mom. I want to see her as much as I can now. She’s turning 80 years old in December and bee through a lot.

The kids also went and pick out some veggies. They had fun picking them. The only thing they don’t know how to pick the ready or not. My sister just try to let them get what they want from the garden. Thats the first time the kids ever harvested anything. They also familiarized then the different kinds of veggies in our farm. They really like it there. They told my family that next summer they want to stay in the farm for a month. They also want to help harvesting the coconut and corn. Really I am looking forward for that. Will see though. I am also glad that they the place that I grow up. They want that we will build a small house there for us to stay whenever we want to visit there. We might. Who knows.

To my family thank you so much for taking care of us while there. I know its extra work for you guys. I love you all!

Mr. WordPress in town!

Filed under: General, Personalities — feyma @ 3:26 pm

A few days ago I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Matt Mullenweg the creator and founder of WordPress software that powered this blog and our other blogs and our web magazine Live In The Philippines. He came to the Philippines to attend the WordCamp in Manila and Davao. The organizer is our friend Bloggie. After arriving in Manila, he just stay there for a day and came here to Davao. The WordCamp in Davao is 2 days before the Manila WordCamp. So he hangs around Davao and see some of the nice places here like Eden, Peoples Park and more. Really he is a down to earth guy. He is easy to get along with. We had the privilege of having dinner with him with Mr. Adobe himself too Ted Padova. He authors a lot of books about Adobe.

We went with Matt to Ranchero Grill for dinner. We let him have a taste of the baby back ribs that Ranchero’s famous for. He likes it, being Matt’s from Texas the barbecue place, we want to see how Ranchero compared to Texas. Well he likes the taste of the baby back ribs. He also like that the meat will just fell off from the bone. We let him taste some other food too like fried lumpia and sinuglaw(combination of sinugba & kinilaw). Really he will eat anything, I guess except durian I think. He even tasted the Tanduay rum and he likes it.

After dinner we took him to Jack’s Ridge. It’s a restaurant with coffee shop too. The view there is really something. You can see the whole city of Davao with the light on at night, its just awesome. Bob and I just stayed there for an hour. We didn’t hang out too long because its past midnight already. We had fun though.

Matt thank you so much for making the time to come and visit Davao. I do hope you come and visit again. Good luck and more power to WordPress!

Hang out!

Filed under: General, food — feyma @ 4:14 pm

A few nights ago the Bisaya teacher of Bob Bebe invited us to go and hear the music of one of her student. His going to perform live at Kangaroo Coffee shop. The show will start at 8pm. After Bebe was teaching Bob, the sessions ends like 6pm Bebe told us that she had to go home and feed her kids and she will come right back at our house before 8 o’clock for the show. So in between that time me and my nieces prepared our dinner too so that when we go to the coffee shop we will have our dessert there. Bebe was true to her word she came back at our house before 8. She waited a few minutes at our house because me and my nieces are not yet ready. While waiting her and Bob and the kids are happily chatting in Bisaya for Bob’s practice communicating too. By 8:10 off we went to the coffee shop.

When we got there, theirs already a lot of people there. The singer was already started performing. Bob told me that I will just order for everyone since its jammed pack inside. I did order and I asked the cashier to please bring our order outside since it is hard for us to sneak back inside to get what we order with so many people standing. He said “no problem ma’am”. So I went outside and joined Bob, Bebe and our 2 nieces Glenda and Dedeng. While waiting for our order we were listening to the performer. He was actually pretty good. Then in just few minutes the sound system went dead. We can’t hear anything from the singer. It’s okay because its nice to just talked with Bebe and my nieces too. Then all of a sudden the waiter came near our table and called  my name and told us to get our order. Really he could have just brought our order when he came and told us. I was not happy going inside to get our order passing through a lot of people. It’s pretty tight inside. That’s one thing I tried and don’t want to go to Kangaroo coffee shop because all of the other coffee shop here in Davao will deliver your order in your table. The thing is I saw some of their waitresses and waiters just standing behind the counters chatting a bit. For me I went there to relax and unwind. It just shocking to me that their waitresses and waiters can’t even just bring your food to your table.

Oh well, lots of coffee place here in Davao that we like to hang out too. Just go there and have fun and relax… I like Bose coffee club at F. Torres and SM, Bastis at Victoria mall, Fagioli along Bajada, Coffee Dream at SM, At Jack Ridge too, Kopi Roti I think in Jacinto. I like their bread there, Yummy…

Cheers!

A good seminar!

Filed under: General, financial — feyma @ 6:20 pm

Two days ago Bob had a seminar here at our house. Supposed to be it should be held at one of the function rooms at K1. Needless to say K1 didn’t even know we existed when we went there the day before to check everything out. Luckily Bob decided to checked it out before the seminar. It would be embarrassing going there and we are not booked. My goodness I called them up a month ago to booked the seminar. I told them and explained to them what room I want. They said okay. Luckily no one was booked on the date that we said. So that thing was solve. Then Bob ask them if we could try to hooked up his laptop to their plasma TV? They said sure, you know what it didn’t work. Somehow a lot of the plug in it is hidden in the back and they hooked the TV right in the wall. You can’t go through the plug in. So Bob thought okay we will just use the projector. They said okay. When Bob tried the internet it didn’t work. Bob can’t have the seminar without the internet connection. Gosh, I was sitting in the couch there thinking Oh Lord we’re doomed. Lots of stuff played my mind on what are we going to do then?

While Bob was talking to the tech guy there, I was thinking maybe we could have the seminar at our house. We could tell that the guy just don’t know what to do. Bob called up his partner for the seminar and told him the problem. He also said that what if the seminar be held at our house. So that night me and my people in the house were busy preparing the room for the seminar. You know what it was a hard work but it turn out good. The people that attended told us they like it because it felt so homey. They said they like it better here.

To all that came thank you so much for coming and the support. It’s also nice meeting you guys. I know a lot of you are tired from the trip. I hope you guys learned a lot from it.

Mabuhay and God bless!

Frank’s aftermath!

Filed under: General — feyma @ 7:46 am

Last week the Philippines was hit by a bad typhoon. It leaves a lot of people homeless and causing a lot of death. A ship that sail from Manila bound for Cebu didn’t make it through the trip. The ship sank in Romblon, an island in Southern Luzon.

The sad part the ship’s captain didn’t bother to just tell his big boss that his ship can’t sail due to typhoon. Passengers board the ship without knowing that bad weather is coming. Some people I think blame the coast guard why they didn’t bother to stop the ship too. Lot of the family of the passengers now are really mad at the ship owner. Honestly I can’t blame them. They are frustrated right now because no one will really give them good answer why the ship was allowed to sail with bad weather on the way.

I was watching on news on tv and they are showing the ship how big it is before the wreck. The report said that the ship size is like 7th story building. Now looking at it after the wreck it looks like just the bottom tip of it that you can see, the rest is under the water. The whole ship almost sank down. Can you imagine all the people inside the ship when its starting to go down the water. It’s really heartbreaking. I hope that they will recover all the dead people inside so that the family will have peace of mind.

Sad news!

Filed under: Family — feyma @ 8:15 am

Well, from my previous post I wrote about my niece’s daughter who got very sick. Sad to tell you that she did passed away a few days being in the hospital. It’s been hard to my niece, but I think it’s better for her daughter to rest than really suffer. At least she’s with God now. I think it also taught some lesson to my niece and her husband especially to be responsible parent. I hope that they really would take care the remaining three kids they have right now.

For those people that pray for her thank you very much.

So long Gwen!

Heavy heart

Filed under: Family — feyma @ 5:48 am

I found out from my family in General Santos that one of my niece’s daughter got ill since yesterday. They told me that the baby has meningitis. I didn’t really know what it was until last week when I went to a hospital here and heard somebody screaming inside the emergency room. I asked the doctor what was wrong with the lady. He told me that the lady has meningitis. Gosh, just remembering the pain on that lady and here we are we have a baby that has it. My sister said that the baby might not make it. It’s hard for me to think the pain the baby is going through. Just typing this blog is hard for me thinking that my niece are in pain right now. I hope that God will ease their pain.

It’s hard thinking that the baby might be gone. When I saw her last she was a good and healthy baby. My other siblings are even telling me that its hard for them if something will really happen to the baby. One of my sister even baby sit that baby. I am not sure what my mom will even think. Not sure if they will tell her though. My mom’s been sickly for awhile now. She has stroke like 5 years ago. Not sure if she can handle it if something will really happen to the baby.

Anyway, I ask you guys prayer for the baby. I do hope miracles will happen. To you baby Gwen, we love you. I hope you will feel better. I hope and pray that God will touch you and heal you.

WE LOVE YOU GWEN!!!

Summer is coming!

Filed under: School — feyma @ 8:34 am

Wow, its almost the end of school here in the Philippines. Ateneo used to end their school before the middle of March, but now I guess towards the end of the month. Our kids are busy reviewing for their final examination. Gosh, the making of projects are endless. I have to think of something to do for our kids during summer. I want them to be busy so that they will be active though. Two of my kids are hooked to regular Exbox, Exbox 360 and PSP and of course their computer.  We want that they have to minimize in using those gadget. We want them to be healthy too. So we will have to enroll them I think with the swimming. Also they can go walking in our neighborhood or going to the mall just maybe 15 minutes walk away from our house.

Our oldest son is in my parents farm right now. He might help my family there for our copra farm. He loves it there. I will try to bring the rest of the kids maybe like April to harvest some other crops too. Maybe they will learn in feeding the pigs, chickens, geese, and carabao too. It would be the first for them. I would like to see the reaction of my kids when their riding the carabao. That would be fun for them. I hope anyway.
